Opus 45, 2001

This mechanical action organ was planned simultaneously with the new church, a process which started over ten years before the organ was completed. Robert F. Mahoney was the acoustical consultant for the church. He created a space with a fine balance between the spoken word and the music. Hellmuth Wolff drew the case design and the stoplist, in consultation with Scott Mouton, the organist. Christopher Young played the inaugural recital on November 10, 2001.
The case is in stained Spanish cedar, a mahogany type wood from Brazil which is neither Spanish nor cedar. It holds the Montres in 16 and 8 foot pitches in the facade. The Récit is in Oberwerk position above the Grand-Orgue. The Positif has horizontal swell louvers to direct the sound over the heads of the choristers. The Vox humana in that division has double-coned resonators built after Johan Niclas Cahman’s organ in Leufsta Bruk. The Chalemy and the Cor de Nuit were salvaged by Scott Mouton from a Pels organ in San Antonio, Texas, which the Wolff firm replaced in 1985. The horizontal trumpet was given to the church by the builder to thank pastor Godfrey Hubert for his enthusiastic support. The full length Bombarde 32' and the largest pipes of the Bourdon 32' are located in the speaker chambers next to the organ.
